Meet David Schechter

Welcome to the third part of our running blog series on members of the OrbitMI Corporate Advisory Board. The advisor we'd like to spotlight today is David Schechter.

DavidSchechter---BlogDavid has been a member of our Corporate Advisory Board since 2019; he was introduced to OrbitMI through his longstanding friendship with CEO Ali Riaz, and shares our belief that digital transformation is the future of the maritime industry. Though his career originally had a very different trajectory, David has had a long and significant career in consulting and investments. After graduating from the University of Delaware with a degree in chemical engineering, he worked for a number of petrochemical and industrial companies. Soon after taking his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he became a strategic planning consultant, working initially at The Boston Consulting Group, among other notable firms. In the mid-1980s David entered the investment banking industry, amassing the knowledge and expertise that he now brings to the OrbitMI Corporate Advisory Board. In 1997 he founded Perspective Capital Management, a hedge fund which he manages to this day.

David enjoys spending time with his family, and devoting himself to charitable causes. He is very active in the non-profit world through his organization, The Schechter Foundation. David currently serves on the Board of Jewish Family & Children's Service of Greater Boston where he was its former Board President. A few years ago David served on six non-profit boards at one time, and feels it has been among his most important work. David has also spent the last two decades investing in and advising start-up technology and bio-medical companies. We're thankful to David for his continual support in OrbitMI's mission, and we look forward to growing together.
